THE FAIREST OF THE FAIR

By Rodney Rountree
1976
(Poem #3 from "Poem Time Capsule")

How do I describe you, the fairest of the fair
You with skin of satin and silken hair
How do I describe you, the fairest of the fair
You with eyes of diamonds set in sapphires fair
How do I describe you, the fairest of the fair
You with teeth of purest ivory, and lips of rubies rare
How do I describe you, the fairest of the fair
You whom the stars, they envy, and the sun adore
How do I describe you, the fairest of the fair
I can only say with mingled happiness and despair,
You are indeed, the fairest of the fair!
